The Cesarean Option

If you have considered cesareans as a favorable option to avoid the pain of childbirth, or if you have thought that c-sections are no big deal, or if you think that the recovery from a cesarean is shorter or easier than a vaginal birth...

...or if you simply want to become more educated on cesareans, what they're like, what happens to the woman's body...

...Take 30 minutes and watch the linked webcast. It is a straightforward, uncomplicated c-section performed in Kansas.

The webcast can be viewed here.

I just couldn't watch any of the actual c-section -cutting and sewing up etc... I DEFINITELY NEVER want one! the whole time the baby was crying, I was just like, give her to her mother! That was one thing that I LOVED about the birth center birth, was that I got to hold the baby for a while immediately after birth...

my grandma told me labor is like a echo, it starts small and then it rises, rises, rises,... gone... and now the next contraction starts up...

I can't imagine.

I almost had to have a c-section with my daughter and my doula convinced me hour 26 of my labor to try pain medication to relax, dilate, and push (i wasn't even at a 2.) The Doc. was unconvinced but she along with a nurse convinced me and him that it was time for medicine and poof, i was holding my daughter 2 hours later.

I was pressured just a little bit and at that time w/ my first I was willing to do anything to see my girl safely through to my arms. I can't imagine if i didn't have my doula there to speak calmly and clear headed.

I think a lot of people are so scared by the idea of labor that they need something they can control. i know i was terrified going in.

blessings,
Gwen

Ya she is a daddy's girl. She doesnt get to see him very often so when she does she is always excited. She does say mama but it is usually when she is whining. So I have a friend who is pregnant and planning on having an epidural. I think it is so sad that people dont have any knowledge so they are scared and dont do it natural. What would you suggest on information to give her.
